Lace Wave Garter Knit Shawl Pattern

Lace Wave Garter Knit Shawl Pattern from Kimberlees Korner

Lace Wave Garter Knit Shawl Pattern

This knitting pattern is for a garter stitch shawl that features a little lace stitch on the edges so it is named the lace wave shawl – the edging of lace stitches forms a slight scallop or wave.

The lace wave shawl is very easy to knit and the pattern has instructions with tables provided to keep track of the row you are on. If you can knit, do a yarn over knit into the front and back of a stitch to make an increase and knit 2 stitches together then you can make this shawl. You will also need to be familiar with short rows for the shaping of the lace edges of the shawl.

There are 2 versions of this pattern – one is for a fine weight yarn, the photos with the 3 colors in the shawl and uses a size US 7 circular needle. You will need 3 skeins of yarn each about 200 yards for this shawl.
The other version is for a sock weight yarn and uses a size US 5 needle and 5 skeins of yarns about 128 yards of each yarn. You will need circular knitting needles to accommodate the increasing number of stitches as you knit the shawl – at least 32 inches to 40 inch long circulars are recommended.

This is a great pattern for using up yarn in your stash or if you have mini skeins of 5 colors of sock yarn.

The finished shawl measures 71 inches wide, or across, and 18 inches deep in the back. The five color shawl is 71 inches wide and about 16 inches deep in the back.
