Easy Knitting Pattern using Bernat Blanket Yarn
This is a free knitting pattern using Bernat Blanket Yarn. I recently designed this pattern after buying the yarn back in January when it was on sale at Joann’s. The yarn is the Color Pooling version but any Bernat Blanket yarn that recommends a size US 11 needle will work. It is an easy to knit pattern using only knit and purl stitches.
I really like the way the blanket turned out although I do not really see the “color pooling” as the yarn showed on the package the yarn came with. I chose this color because the blanket was a gift for my oldest son and his favorite football team is the Atlanta Falcons. The yarn is super soft and easy to knit with. It is hard to photograph though, in my opinion, so sorry if it is hard to see the actual whole blanket or the stitch pattern. It has knit and purl rows and a garter stitch border around the edges – below is a closer photo but again it is hard to see the actual pattern – it looks better in person than a photo.
You can click above to download the written pattern if you want to save it or print it. I will also include the pattern below:
Supplies needed: 4 skeins of Bernat Blanket Yarn
Size US 11 circular knitting needles with a 36 or 40 inch long cable
Cast on 92 stitches (approximately 2 sts per inch gauge)
Knit the first 4 rows then pattern as follows:
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: K4, purl to last 4 sts, k4
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: K4, purl to last 4 sts, k4
Row 5: K4, purl to last 4 sts, k4
Row 6: Knit
Repeat the 6 row pattern until you have used up most of all 4 skeins of yarn – leave enough yarn to Knit 4 more rows then bind off.
The finished blanket will have a right side and a wrong side for the stitch pattern but it looks nice from either side. It measures approximately 58 inches wide and 54 inches long. If you want it a little longer you can either get another skein of yarn and knit it longer or you can have it less wide by subtracting 4 to 6 stitches and then you can knit it longer.
I hope you enjoy the pattern.
